Simply the best in California. Different ways of food and drink. Delicatessen with good prices and a bread museum. Quick service. The soup in a fresh bread was delicious and recommended.

Good place to quickly grab clam chowder and the world famous San Francisco sourdough bread to go. I love the signature flavor of Boudin's sourdough bread. The line can get long, so I usually get in line while looking at the menu.

Boudin Bakery Cafe and Museum is simply amazing. Knowing the mother dough is there in the fridge is simply WoW. Thank and yes I will return.

I wanted to be a tourist for a day and decided to get clam chowder from here versus the stalls across the street. They have a good combo deal where you can get a bowl of soup and a half sandwich for a good price. I got clam chowder in a bread bowl and a tuna salad sandwich. Both were delicious. I noticed most of the workers were Filipino. Later on I got a Dutch Crunch bread so I could compare it to Ike's Sandwiches. I prefer Ike's bread.

Had a clam chowder bread bowl and was disappointed. The bread bowl was not deep at all, we counted and each of us finished our chowder in 6/7 spoonfuls. The bread left a lot to be desired as well. Wine was great though.

One of my favorite places in San Francisco. Great food, amazing bread and well managed! The Clam Chowder and whole Dungeness crab with garlic are amazing. The Freshness of the bread and seafood is what really makes this place a winner.

The waft of fresh sourdough penetrates your nose as you approach the Holy Mecca of bread making. The place is always busy as you frantically try to order your clam chowder sourdough bread bowl. Once you finally rest the tray on a table of your choice, you begin to gaze upon the behemoth that is in front of you. Grab a spoon and taste the clam chowder and all you can feel is absolute pairing perfection.

Love, love and love their fresh baked sourdough breads variety. Also I adore watching through the big glass window how the entire process of baking is happening

If you love bakery items and want to see how creative one can be with it..Than Boudin is the place. Interesting place to see breads of different shapes like crab, bunny ,bear ,etc. Also you can see live how breads are made in commercial basis.Being a Vegetarian we tried the tomato soup inside a bread bowl. It's was good..Must visit this place if you come to pier 39.

I have only been to the Boudin Bakery in Disneyland. They give you a sample of there own bread that you can see them making. Overall I think that it is the best bread yet.

The mecca of San Francisco Sourdough bread. There is a cafe on the ground floor and bistro upstairs, serving lunch and dinner.Only a handful of options for vegetarians but are worth trying. The taste of a fresh sourdough is quite flavorful. For those who are interested in more than just taste, there is museum and bakery tour that provides glimpses of history of San Francisco Sourdough and how it is made today.

This was kinda a cool place but the food was really basic and really expensive. Very touristy and they really push people though fast. It's set up cafeteria style. No one really loved what they got to eat and it was $50 for the people to get a breakfast of French toast and avocado toast... In a paper basket... No fixings... We won't go back.

Soup is the best and the bread is the greatest! It does get very crowded and the line for ordering is sometimes long and slow. Seating is limited.

This place is awesome! Really great meal options and plenty of delicious food. The bakery itself smells wonderful and looks well kept. Awesome experience to order at Boudin. Their bread is great for chili or clam chowder.

Best bakery in San Francisco! Their sourdough is perfect and I wish I could get it in my area. I never liked sourdough that much until I ate theirs and no other I've found comes close. They make the most detailed and delicious looking edible bread sculptures, have a wide variety of breads, baked goods, pastries and local specialty items to choose from and the menu has terrific food and drinks options. We visit San Fran every other year and this is always a must stop place.

Love this place and the bread! Just avoid going upstairs because they overpay you for the same bowl and the only thing is a full bar, bay view and a museum unless you have a big group or you want something more nicer. I recommend saving your money and getting the same bowl for $10 in the downstairs cafe and order it to go so you can eat your bowl by the Bay or the Fisherman’s Wharf sign!!

Wife & I went here for a quick lunch. Service was good. Wife said her clam chowder was ok, but not the best. My pizza was plain tasting and a waste of $15.99. It tasted like tomato sauce on flat bread. The food here use to be good but today the food was bland and tasteless. You are paying for the area and views if you happen to get a window seat. Wife suggested we not return.

The food was pretty okay, and the service was earnest, but it fell short on both scores. My "medium" steak came out well done and was barely lukewarm by the time my steak knife arrived and the rest of my party was nearly halfway through their meals. My water had food particulates floating in it when it was first poured. The waitress didn't notice me on two occasions when I was speaking to her when she was at the table, once when trying to ask about any gluten-free bread options (they have none, it turns out), and once to ask for more water. Water refills didn't come automatically, and it seemed like the wait staff was stretched pretty thin, so they all seemed pretty scattered.

A touristy bakery and Cafe. You will leave full because of the amount of bread they give you! Sourdough is delicious and freshly baked. The clam chowder is mediocre. A lot of potatoes and soup, thinking back I don't think I had any clams in my clam chowder.. Sandwiches are hearty. Overall, I would visit again but would not go for the clam chowder.

Excellent service and food selection. I simply had bread and butter. Who thought that four simple ingredients - flour, water, salt, and starter dough would be so good. I enjoyed learning about the history and how the mother dough was saved by Louise Boudin in 1906 during an earthquake. My wife had the world-famous New England-style clam chowder that was served in a fresh made sourdough bread bowl. It had to be very good as she did not speak a word until it was done.We sat outside and had a great view of the wharf. The area is busy and it makes the sport of people watching much fun.

Very well decorated place, especially so when we came during Christmas. The bread bowl taste fresh and delicious, but may be too big a portion for tiny Asians like us 😂 wished there is more soup as compared to the sour dough bread. Queue may be queue long, taking up to 30 minutes during the peak to get your food. Very nice environment.

What's not to love? The bread is obviously perfect....we ate so much of it that we all got our sourdough fix? We even took a big Crab shaped piece of bread on the road with us as we did a west coast road trip!We loved the soup - the sandwhiches...one of our favorite stops on the whole trip!!

A place with a lot of historical significance. Nice place to try San Francisco famous Clam chowder. There is a small Pete’s coffee shop inside which also is really good. Very iconic and best place to try celebrate in San Francisco.

I got the crab chowder in sourdough bread bowl. It looked really tasty, however the soup was just okay. The soup is not flavorful and there was no crab meat in it even though it's crab chowder. The bread though is amazing.

Great sourdough bread! I bought some bread to make avocado toast with and some cute bear shaped ones for the kiddos. I also decided to have dinner in the restaurant upstairs. The clam chowder was excellent, but the crab...wow! Best crab I have had and I regularly go to crab boils. If you are ever in Fisherman’s Wharf, please go here!

Busy place. Coffee on one side. Cappuccino on the other. Wish they were together for ease of carrying the order Had sourdough French toast with bacon on the side. 4 large pieces. Also sourdough breakfast sandwich. Super good. Brought back scones, chocolate croissants, blueberry muffins and ham and gruyere croIssants. All were outstanding. Comments about each “best ever “

This is like a Willy Wonka factory for sourdough bread. They have bread in fun shapes, baskets carrying bread on a ceiling conveyer belt, and the best sourdough I’ve ever had. Not to mention, their clam chowder was fantastic! A must-see place if you’re coming down to Fisherman’s Wharf.

Boudin is a popular restaurant that has been around for a long time. There are lots of different kinds of food to buy as well as a bakery with tons of seating area. You can order hot food like clam chowder, tomatoe soup and other hot foods. The clam chowder is good and famous but I feel there should be more soup and less bread as I saw many people didn't finish the sourdough bread bowl.

Great sourdough bread and food. The place is nice and it has a small museum where you can learn about the history of sourdough and watch how they make the bread. The store has a lot of baking ingredients and you can take home some bread and canned clam chowder.

The clam chowder lived up to the hype! The flavor was on point & the bread bowl was perfect! Very delicious! The croissant sandwich was actually eaten the next day after being in the fridge & it was surprisingly very delicious too! I’m sure it is even better freshly made but i wasn’t disappointed!

My family loved this place. We even went upstairs and took the museum tour. It was three dollars a person and it was interesting (be advised, my family is easily amused). There was a large poster up there of foods invented in San Francisco but all I can remember is the Irish coffee and the popsicle.I came here once before with a friend of mine a few years ago when we took a trip to the city without our families, and I bought a loaf of bread shaped like an alligator as a souvenir for my family. It has become the gift to beat. The grilled cheese and bowl of tomato soup is wonderful (be advised, the soup does not come in a bread bowl if you order it this way).

Wow! Who would’ve thought that a bakery would’ve been one of our families favorite stops in San Francisco? This place is awesome!! We especially enjoyed the second floor using our interviewing area where you can watch the bread being made. There was a lot of interactive displays upstairs, and free samples of the sourdough bread. The history of this place is unbelievable. Their product is amazing! Their store downstairs was a lot of fun, they make all kinds of designs with their bread - my kids really enjoyed seeing them. Tasty bread!! Definitely stopping here anytime we’re in town.

Excellent sourdough bread. Like the best sourdough that I've ever had.The Turkey and Havarti cheese sandwich was fresh and delicious (don't forget the condiments bar if you want more mayonnaise or mustard). The clam chowder bowl is a must here if you are into chowder.

Questions & Answers

Just call or stop by and ask.

No! I wouldn't even drive an RV into San Francisco! But especially not near the wharf or piers. That place is always packed!

Yes all over the world

You should be able to order from their website.

You can also take the trolley to Fisherman's Wharf. Very nice view of everything.

You must go to the left of the entrance, make the row ask and they give you your tray I recommend the oyster soup
